David
Carson
The graphic designer I
chose to write about today is David Carson. David Carson was born September 8th
1955, he is known mostly for his innovate magazine design, and he is also well
known for his use of typography. For example, he was the artistic director for
a magazine called “Ray Gun” he was then able to use the style of typographic,
and if we’re being honest he is very well known for the typography era as they
call it. Carson did complete a bachelor
degree at the University of Arizona he received a Bachelor’s of arts in
sociology. His first time coming in contact with graphic design was a two weeks
graphics course at the university this went on to shape his future in this
industry. After he graduated college Carson started to experiment with graphic
design in ways he had not previously. He was immersed in the artistic culture
of Southern California, and he then attended the Oregon College of Commercial
Art for a couple months. Then he took an unpaid internship with Action Now
Magazine. Then he traveled to Switzerland to take a 3 week workshop in graphic
design he then met his teacher Hans Rudolf Lutz, and this was his first
influence to take this seriously.
